Privacy Policy

Hoofprint (“we”, “us”) is your private record of life with your horses. We collect only what the app needs to work, and we never sell your data.

Information we collect

• Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored only as a salted hash, never in plain text).
• Content you create — the horses you add, their profiles and care records, your moments (stories, photos, videos, tags), notes, calendar events, and your rides. When you add a video we also keep a single still frame from it, to show as its preview.
• Precise location, while you are recording a ride — if you start a ride in Ride mode, the app records your position for the length of that ride and saves the route, speed, elevation and time with it, so you can see where you rode afterwards. This is location history, and it is stored on our servers as part of that ride until you delete the ride or your account.
  • Recording only happens between the moment you tap Start and the moment you end the ride. It never runs on its own.
  • It continues while your phone is locked or in your pocket, because that is where a phone lives on a horse. iOS shows a blue indicator the whole time this is happening.
  • Deleting a ride deletes its route with it.
• Approximate location, for weather — separately from rides, and only while the app is open, we use a coarse position to fetch local weather and air-quality advisories. That position is not stored.
• Assistant messages — when you ask the in-app assistant a question, your message and a short summary of the relevant horse are processed to generate a reply.

How we use your information

To show you your stable, journal, schedule, rides and monthly recap; to answer your questions in the assistant; and to provide weather guidance. Ride locations are used only to draw your own route and work out your distance, speed and time in each gait. We do not use your content, conversations or locations to train AI models, we do not use them for advertising, and we do not build a profile of your movements.

How your information is shared

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers strictly to operate the service: cloud hosting and database, an AI provider (to generate assistant replies), and a weather data provider. They process data only to perform services for us.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children

Hoofprint is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
